Apartment
An apartment is a dwelling that is part of a larger or smaller building. This means that the home consists of one or more rooms with an associated kitchen and bathroom, usually located in a property with several of such homes. An apartment can be rent, property or share.
In a rental apartment, the apartment is rented by a landlord, who can be either private, professional or a public housing organization. When the apartment is rented, the rent is paid on a monthly basis directly to the landlord. In the case of a rental home, the landlord is usually responsible for all external maintenance as well as repairs that may come into the apartment, for example a toilet. A rental property can typically be terminated with 3 months notice, which gives the tenant a freedom and security to be able to get rid of the apartment at any time.
An apartment can also be bought as a cooperative home, on which you buy a share in the giving housing association. Here, a co-operative certificate is paid to the housing association, which constitutes the value of the home as well as a monthly housing benefit.
It is also possible to own an apartment - this is an owner-occupied home on which you buy the entire home. In the case of an owner-occupied home, the entire apartment is owned by the buyer and it is therefore possible to change and renovate such a home without having to apply for approval from a board of directors. In an owner-occupied home, the price of the home and a monthly owner's expense are paid.
